About Us
Natural Farming- That is where we come from.
We have been inspired by the book, “The One-Straw Revolution” by Masanobu Fukuoka, along with insights from other Natural Farmers in Japan. This inspiration guides us to observe nature and emulate its processes. Therefore, we avoid using fertilizers, weed killers, compost, and similar products. Instead, we find resources from our land; we simply cut the weeds and lay them down. Our motto is to assist the microorganisms in the soil, which are responsible for growing all the vegetables and fruits, rather than relying solely on ourselves. In this way, we feel a deep connection with nature.
We also aspire to contribute to the local community, which is where the Old Taheke Store comes into play. This store serves as a hub for local produce, allowing not only us but also our neighbors—who practice natural farming without sprays—to sell their goods through us.
Our vision is for Old Taheke Store to be a place where local people can share their excess produce.
For now, we are taking one step at a time. We have been busy cleaning up the entrance area to prepare for selling our produce initially. We will keep you updated on when we are ready for the next step, especially as we look forward to connecting with visitors from places like Wairere Boulders.
